The American F-15C Eagle, which makes up half of all the fighters in service with the US Air Force, will not be able to withstand fifth-generation Russian fighter aircraft Su-57 without major modernization. This writes the American edition of The National Interest.
As noted in the article, currently the Su-57 is superior to many world fighters in maneuverability and armament. In this case, the F-15C, in order to be able to resist the Russian aircraft, will need serious modernization and equipment with new weapons.
In particular, according to The National Interest, theoretically the American fighter can get the Legion module, which is already being developed by Lockheed Martin. Thanks to him, the F-15C would be able to detect aircraft created using stealth technology, including the Su-57, and strike.
"However, the Su-57 will survive after the initial salvo, and the F-15C will be at a disadvantage compared to the unusually maneuverable Russian fighters," the publication said. In this case, the survival of the American fighter will depend entirely on the professionalism of the pilots.
In March, it was reported that the fifth-generation Russian fighter Su-57 inferior to the American F-35 Lightning II in stealth, but surpasses it in flight range, speed and maneuverability.
The Su-57 is the first Russian fighter of the fifth generation. The machine is armed with a 30-mm automatic cannon, can carry air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, as well as various bombs.
