NATO has promised to launch thousands of hypersonic missiles

In 2030, more than 80 percent of NATO’s battle formation will be represented by fourth-generation fighters, Jane's 360 reports referring to a statement by the British Deputy Air Marshal Simon Rochelle.

“Now imagine how all these planes fire thousands of hypersonic missiles!” Said the warlord at the Air & Space Power Conference (ASPC) in London.

According to Rochelle, the Royal Air Force has now begun to study hypersonic technologies in order to increase the ability to counter fourth-generation fighters with emerging air and ground threats. It is, in particular, about the development of hypersonic engines and the creation over the next four years of hypersonic air-to-air missiles capable of launching from existing and promising aircraft.

In June, Peter Heilmeyer, head of the sales department for the European MBDA company in Germany, said that the Bundeswehr Weapons, Information Technology and Operation Department launched a national program for creating hypersonic weapons in 2018.

In May, U.S. Army lieutenant general Neil Burgood said the ground battery of the first U.S. hypersonic weapon would include four TEL launchers (Transporter Erector Launcher), each of which would be mounted on an M870 trailer.

In March 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a message to the Federal Assembly, introduced, in particular, the Vanguard and Dagger hypersonic weapons.
