Pentagon admitted failure of MIM-104 Patriot

No single anti-aircraft and missile defense system (air defense and missile defense) is capable of repelling an attack similar to the one that was launched at the facilities of the Saudi Aramco oil company in Saudi Arabia, the Pentagon reports from Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“As for the fight against the specific threat that you just spoke about, you know that no system can protect against such a threat, but a multi-layer system of defense capabilities will reduce the risk (attack) of swarm of drones or other attacks that may come from Iran ”, Said the military during a joint briefing with US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.

In September, a military expert Alexei Leonkov said that the American MIM-104 Patriot missile defense system without the use of the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) is an equivalent to the Buk-M2 Russian anti-aircraft missile system.

Earlier that month, a Russian Defense Ministry source said that American-made air defense systems could not repel an attack by drones in Saudi Arabia because of a mismatch with the declared characteristics.

The attack on Saudi Aramco facilities in Saudi Arabia occurred on the morning of September 14th. In the incident, Riyadh and Washington accuse Tehran, which supports the Hussite Yemeni rebels who claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense and Aviation, 18 drones and 7 cruise missiles carried out an attack on Saudi Aramco facilities.
