"Roskosmos" in the near future will send a man to the moon, RIA Novosti reports the statement of the official representative of the state corporation Vladimir Ustimenko.
"Soon. Especially on a cosmic scale very soon. And be sure to go to the moon, ”said the manager.
According to TASS, the official representative of NASA for the human research program, Jennifer Fogarty, said that Russia and the United States already have preliminary informal agreements on a flight to the Moon.
Statements by Ustimenko and Fogarty were made at a press conference in Moscow dedicated to the beginning of the SIRIUS isolation experiment at the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, imitating a 120-day international lunar mission of six people.
As stated on the Roskosmos TV YouTube channel, the executive director of the state corporation’s manned space programs, cosmonaut pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia Sergey Krikalev, will go to the Moon by 2030, after which the lunar base will be deployed.
In March, it was reported that the United States plans to land people on the moon by 2028.
In September 2018, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that Russia would not participate in the international project of the near-moon Gateway station on the sidelines. He added that the lunar station could be created jointly with the BRICS countries.
In the same month, cosmonaut Oleg Kotov told TASS that at present the Russian crew on the ISS consists of two, not three people, as previously, due to the lack of funds for launching Progress cargo ships.
In April, RIA Novosti, citing an anonymous source in the rocket and space industry, reported that the United States and partners insist on Russia using the Gateway module for Gateway, which should be Moscow’s main contribution to the project, to American technical standards. At the same time, the agency’s interlocutor expressed the opinion that Western countries would like to exclude Russia from the project due to delays in the technological cycles of manufacturing space technology.
In the same month, the Energia rocket and space corporation proposed the creation of a gateway module for Gateway at the expense of the US or the EU, since the Federal Space Program until 2025 does not provide funds for the creation of a gateway module for an international near-moon station.
In April 2014, Rogozin, holding the post of deputy prime minister, called the colonization of the moon a strategic task.
Negotiations on the creation of a near-moon station began in 2013. In September 2017, Russia and the United States signed an agreement of intent on the creation of the near-moon station Gateway. Construction of the station is scheduled for the 2022nd, the accession of the Russian lock module to it – on the 2024th.
