Russian air defense forces first arrived in Egypt

The Russian air defense forces first arrived in Egypt for joint exercises with the military of the republic. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

Friendship Arrow-2019 exercises will last 13 days, from October 26 to November 7. More than 100 Russian military personnel of the Southern Military District will take part in them. The Egyptian and Russian military will exchange experience and will reflect the attacks of the conditional enemy. The objectives of the exercises also include improving the practical skills of military personnel.

During the exercises, the Russian Tor and Buk anti-aircraft missile systems, which are armed with the air defense forces of the Egyptian armed forces, are used. Defense will also be tested using Igla portable anti-aircraft missile systems and Shilka self-propelled anti-aircraft systems.

In April of this year, the United States warned Egypt against buying Russian Su-35 military aircraft. Washington threatened sanctions and recalled China, India and Turkey, which faced such a problem due to deals with Russia.
