Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) MQ-25 Stingray, designed for air refueling carrier-based fighters, in particular, F-35C Lightning II, made its first flight. The corresponding video Boeing posted on Twitter.
According to a message posted on the website of the American company, the flight of a test sample of the drone, named T1, took place in Illinois. The UAV was in the air for two hours, during which the drone maneuvered autonomously, following a predetermined route.
In March, the first flight of the XQ-58A Valkyrie demonstrator, capable of launching without using the runway, took place in the sky above the military test site of Hume (Arizona).
According to a contract concluded in August 2018 by the U.S. Navy and Boeing in the amount of $ 805 million, the latter should produce four prototypes of the MQ-25 Stingray. In the future, the company can produce another 68 such UAVs for $ 13 billion.
